Boat Rescue
If you are a paid member of Greers Ferry Walleye Club, one of your benefits is our Boat Rescue Service. This service is only available to paid members and those in their household.
The rescue service itself is not being offered by the Greers Ferry Walleye Club, but by some members of the GFWC. Thus whatever rescue agreements are made, they are made between a paid GFWC member, and the individual providing the rescue services.
How it works
1. You must be a paid member, you will need to prove your are a paid member before you will receive any help. There are two ways you can prove you are a member:
a, Show your GFWC Membership Card and your drivers license.
b. Log into the membership website and show your profile and your drivers license.
2. Listed below is the name of rescue volunteers, their phone number, and the location of the lake they cover. (The volunteers are volunteers, thus they have the right to decline providing any kind of rescue services, at the time you call them. (Most are not going to provide any form of rescue service in the early morning or after sunset.)
a. You call the first volunteer on the list, if you cannot reach them, call the next person on the list. If you cannot reach anyone you can leave a voicemail. GFWC and the volunteers do not carry guarantee there will be someone available to provide rescue services.
b. Emergency-If you have an emergency situation to not call a rescue volunteer, call 9-1-1.
3. There are three forms of rescue that a volunteer may provide.
a. Provide gas. (They may ask for reimbursement,)
b. Provide a battery jump.
c. Tow your vehicle to a agreed upon location. (Be aware that if the volunteer provides this service they most likely are only going to tow you to a safe location. It is up to you to have someone to bring you to where your vehicle and trailer is located unless it is close to where your boat is stranded.
4. GFWC does not charge any fee for this service since it is a free benefit for paid GFWC members. GFWC has no control over any fees that a boat rescue member may charge to cover their costs.
5. Hold Harmless-If a rescue volunteer is able to help you, you agree to hold them and the GFWC harmless in regard to whatever rescue services the volunteer provides. Neither the volunteer or GFWC is responsible to for any harm or damage that may occur upon you, your boat, another individual or any other boat or structure.
