We just finished a very successful “Catch for a Cause II”. We timed it perfectly by accident. We originally scheduled the event  for April 5 but because of rain 4-straight days starting on April 4 we re-scheduled the event to Saturday April 26. We caught many of the White Bass feeding in the shallows chasing Shad that were spawning. Many of the White bass harvested had eggs that were not dropped. Our Lake Biologist believes many of those eggs were being absorbed by the White
Bass which didn’t spawn them; the Biologist believed most White Bass
spawned a few weeks earlier.

We had 430 White Bass harvested at 675lbs total; for an average 1.567lbs. We also had 3 Hybrid Bass harvested at 20.97lbs, total 695.97lbs of fish caught. (Less bass eating on the feeder fish for Walleye.)

The winner with the largest White was 2.41lbs; he also
harvested 84lbs of Whites; we gave away a whopping $10,000 in door prizes.

Whatever fish that was not kept was donated to The Other Side men’s addiction recovery program. So we were able to feed some men and reduce the number of fish eating the bait fish that Walleye feed on.

Surface water temps ranged from 68-71F.
